Taurasi DOCG Riserva Terzotratto Riserva, I Favati

  • Campania
  • , Italy
IT-FAV-010
2011
6 x 75cl

The wine is full-to-medium bodied, velvety in texture, and there are lovely berry notes overlaying the fine, persistent tannins on the lengthy finish. Taurasi is an historic town which is located in the region of Sannio in the province of Avellino, Campania, Italy. Taurasi and Taurasi Riserva wines are still, red wines based principally on the Aglianico grape (small percentages of Barbera and Piedirosso are allowed). Taurasi received the DOCG status in 1993. The DOCG rules of Taurasi require a minimum 85% Aglianico. I Favati uses 100% Aglianico, this gives Terzotratto a pure style and is a true expression of Aglianico from this great terroir. The I Favati winery represents the culmination of a tradition dating back to the early 1900s, when the family’s ancestors began making wine in the traditional way for their own table and for a few close friends. The passion and artisanal traditions of those ancestors continue to thrive today. The I Favati winery is located today in Cesinale, a town and surrounding hilly area in the heart of Irpinia (east of Naples, in the region of Campania), a land with a profound calling to the creation of quality wines. Irpinia’s unique, indigenous grape varieties make up all of I Favati’s vineyards, which benefit from a perfect exposition to the sun.
