Located in the southern part of Romania, Dealu Mare spans the Prahova and Buzău counties. It is Romania’s most compact vineyard area, comprising eight important DOC wine centers. Nestled in the Southern Carpathian hills, the region extends over 65 km, with a width ranging from 3 to 12 km. Positioned along the 45th parallel, Dealu Mare shares this prestigious latitude with renowned wine regions like Bordeaux and Tuscany.
The white wines from the Dealu Mare DOC are characterised by their high extract levels, velvety structure, and medium acidity, a result of the region’s southwestern exposure. In certain areas, the soil is rich in calcium carbonate, which is ideal for cultivating aromatic grape varieties such as Tămâioasă Românească and Muscat Ottonel.
